Searchlight Service Dogs obtains pure bred puppies from ethically responsible registered breeders. Puppies are temperament tested and selected by us to ensure a greater likelihood of success. All of our dogs are fully vaccinated, microchipped, and spayed or neutered prior to placement.
We do not train client-owned dogs because not every dog will graduate. We do not want you spending our money and not achieving the final product of a fully-trained service dog. We also do not provide puppies to be raised by clients, as the possibility of that dog not being suitable for service work exists. This would be detrimental to the client as we would have to take the dog away and career change it.
At 8 week of age, our puppies are raised in the trainers' homes as part of their families. They are exposed to various social environments while they learn obedience skills and the foundation of what will become their task skillset. Each dog is specifically tailored to the individual client.

Our psychiatric service dog program is specifically designed to offer our clients the highest quality service dogs in the industry.
Although based in the Province of Ontario, with the lack of provincial legislation, our service dogs are trained to meet the provincial standards set out by the provinces of Alberta and British Columbia.
